Man of Honour

  • Man of Honour

In New York’s Little Italy they say you have a choice. You either become a gangster or a priest. This is the story of the charismatic Father Louis Gigante. Priest. Politician. Property developer. Brother of the head of the Genovese Crime Family.

In the 1970s ‘Father G’ became the New York Archdiocese’s Master Builder, rehabilitating housing, a neighbourhood, fighting to improve the conditions of a forgotten community in the South Bronx and changing people’s lives. This is also a celebration of two neighbourhoods bound together by religion, cultural values and connections through this remarkable man. Produced for the BBC.
